A day of reflection, storytelling, and community as visitors gathered to honour the legacy of the Tree of Knowledge, through the Young Un's 21st Anniversary and launch of Voices Under a Ghost Gum, by Ken Purdham.

On Sunday 3rd May, we welcomed visitors for a day of connection and reflection, marking 21 years since the planting of the Young Un, a direct descendant of the Tree of Knowledge.

Held within the Young Un Precinct Outdoor Exhibition, speeches from guest speakers included Stuart Traill - ETU Queensland & NT Assistant State Secretary

Ken Purdham, Author & Life member Electrical Trades Union Victoria Branch

Graeme Watson, Former Treasurer & Life member Electrical Trades Union Victoria Branch

A highlight of the day was the launch of Ken Purdham's new book, Voices Under a Ghost Gum. Visitors had the opportunity to meet the author during a book signing held within the Centre’s multi-purpose entrance building, home to our Retail Store and Café 1891.

Throughout the day, live music carried across the grounds.

It was a fitting tribute, to gather beneath the branches of a tree as those before us did in The Great Shearers Strike of 1891.
