May Day Program 2025

May Day March - Monday 5th May 2025 - 10am

The annual May Day March on Monday 5th May 2025 will commence from the Globe Hotel/Visitor Information Centre and follow down Oak Street and into the Barcaldine Racecourse, to be followed by a family fun filled morning!

Take the time to visit our recently upgraded Young Un Precinct that offers an enhanced outdoor experience at the Australian Workers Heritage Centre.

The ‘Young-Un’ is a direct descendant of the Tree of Knowledge, planted on site on May 2nd, 2005. Our new ‘Young-Un’ exhibition trail takes you on a journey of discovery on how the events of the 1891 Shearers’ Strike have impacted the lives of Australians ever since and earned Barcaldine it’s place in history.

Explore Barcaldine's rich history, there's no better time to return to where it all began.

Australian Workers Heritage Centre acknowledges the First Nations and Custodians of country through out Australia and internationally and their continuing connection to land, water and community. We acknowledge those who have gone before and we pay our respects to the Elders and the Stolen Generation survivors and we recognize the intergenerational trauma that remains. We pledge to educate and engage in healing informed and trauma aware strategies to bring about social and economic parity.
